Since 1995 I’m organizing 5-a-side soccer tournaments. Indoor and outdoor. The Belgium Police Cup, became the European Police Indoor Tour and later the World Police Futsal Tour, which now exists 18 year.

Regularly I meet teams who only like to participate in a tournament in the spring or summer, I decided to find a solution for that. With the birth of the COPA DEL MAR we offer these teams a 5-a-side outdoor on natural or artificial grass in a country were the sun has a capacity to shine. Because I don’t have the need to create another big event like the WPFT, this spin-off must be kept compact to obtain what it’s created for.

To keep everybody interested I decided to have a carrousel of destinations, so we can offer outside soccer players the possibility to discover new places. Not only for playing, but also to enjoy tourism Starting with sparkling Barcelona, we moved to quiet and green Esposende in Northern Portugal.

The formula of a nice beach hotel, with sport accommodation and nice swimming pool is perfect.

It brings the members of the international teams closer together to obtain the goal of this event:

to create friendship between officers from all over the globe.

After Spain and Portugal, we choose the sun in warm Zakynthos, a beautiful Greek island.

Crisis or not we received 24 teams with eye catchers Brazil and USA.
